Government trying to make FedEx go Union
June 9th 2009 22:37
Now the Union’s wenches in the government are trying to make FedEx go Union and the giant delivery company is fighting back. Congress wants to remove FedEx from the Railway Labor Act which helps protect them from becoming Union.
According to this March 2009 article from Commercialappeal.com FedEx said they may cancel an order for American made planes if they are removed from the Railway Labor Act.
Forcing FedEx to unionize would make them lose money and put them on a more even keel with giant UPS their chief competitor. UPS drivers are mostly a part of the Teamsters Union. FedEx Express would be the part of FedEx affected if they are removed from the Railway Labor Act.
In the interest of fairness I must tell you that I work for FedEx as a driver but not for FedEx Express. I was wondering why a UPS employee (not in uniform or working at the time) asked me about whether we supported a union at FedEx. My reply of “We would rather work for our money” silenced him pretty quickly, and he let the subject go.
I am anti union in any type of workplace, as they are leeches who eventually cost workers their job when they run a company out of business. You think the auto companies would be in so much trouble if they had no unions?
The Government should play no part in making a business go union. I understand that Obama has to pay back the people who put him in office but his attacks on the American Economy must stop.
