Simon Malls shuts down Free Market Warrior

Simon Malls is once again going after Americans who dare to use their Freedom of Speech in a non liberal way. You may have heard how Simon Malls shut down the 4th of July Tea Party in Atlanta Georgia, if not then please read this article.
Well Simon Malls strikes again this time in Concord North Carolina. Loren Spivack until the end of July of 2009 anyway, owns the Free Market Warrior kiosk in Concord Mills Mall.
Mr. Spivack sells bumper stickers and other items with a political theme in his Free Market Warrior Kiosk. Well that is about to change as Simon Malls has told him to be out by the end of July 2009.
I spoke with Loren Spivack earlier today by phone about what his happening. First he stressed to me he was happy with the local management of Concord Mills Mall. That it was the Simon Malls group that wanted his shop closed down.
Loren told me it seemed to have started with a letter to the editor of the Charlotte Observer in which his shop was attacked for promoting Racism and Slavery. The best I can determine is that if you don’t like President Obama then you have to be a racist in some people’s eyes.
Loren originally was told that among the offensive items in his Free Market Warriors Kiosk in Concord Mills Mall, were an “Impeach Obama” bumper sticker and a baby bib saying “Thanks mom and dad for choosing life” Now I just don’t see how anyone can be offended by a baby thanking mom and dad for not aborting it. But hey that’s just me.
At first it seemed like a compromise could be made between Simon Malls and the Free Market Warrior shop. Mr. Spivack assured me he also had some pro Obama merchandise and was willing to work with the Mall in regards to what he would sell there. They finally decided that they have a neutrality policy that forbids his merchandise. It however does not seem to affect the pro Obama stuff sold in other stores in the Mall.
After being told of numerous emails complaining about his shop he was finally shown 2 actual complaints. One was by the woman who originally wrote the letter to the Charlotte Observer, and the other was very similar in wording to her complaint.
Loren Spivack is worried about his employees who will lose their job if his kiosk is shut down. He is also worried about the attacks on Free Speech in America by Simon Malls and others.
Mr. Spivack is a speaker to various conservative groups according to his website which you can find here. As a matter of fact I first heard of him from my ties to the Hickory North Carolina 9/12 group which you can find here.

We need to do something about this. We need to let Simon Mall that this was not a good business move and that we don't take free speech lightly.
