Conservatives should support Gay Marriage
January 3rd 2010 15:57
I am a conservative who supports gay marriage. I know many of you just said “The Hell he is a conservative” or words to that effect and this is fine. Conservative and Liberal are just labels anyway and few people are totally one or the other anyway.
I do call myself a conservative because I side with them on the majority of the issues. Liberals will destroy America if given the chance but not everything they support is wrong.
Gay Marriage is not something I think about every day and I never did really care one way or another if it passed. But after becoming friends with a gay guy who is interested in politics and is mostly conservative (if you ever see John P. Seal on a NC ballot then vote for him!) I have given gay marriage more thought.
Big Government telling people how to live is bad. Telling gays they can’t marry is just as bad as telling us conservatives how to live our lives. I am against intervention in people’s lives by the government if the people are not harming others in whatever activity they are doing.
I feel it is none of my business if two homosexuals want to be married and live their lives like anyone else. I also think gay marriage may even help the conservative cause. Married people with families tend to get more conservative.
My friend John told me the Democrats are using gay people for the votes and that makes sense. The Democrats pushed Cap and Trade down our throats and the new health care bills designed to ruin our country. They can do that but can’t do anything about passing a National Gay Marriage act? Do you really believe that? If ya do think that it’s the Republicans really stopping Gay Marriage then I have a bridge I will sell you real cheap.
If Gay Marriage was legal then the Democrats may not get as many gay votes because their cause would have been won. So the Democrats will do what they always do. Give lip service to the gays and whip them into a voting frenzy against the Republicans. The gays are being used by the Left just like they use all the minorities.
And you conservatives that oppose gay marriage should look at the issue again. If you are so worried that this will make your kids gay then educate yourself. People are gay or they are not. I fully believe people are born gay and nothing else influences that.
One worry is that schools’ teaching about gay marriage is opposing what you teach your kids. Well your kids are already being dumbed down by the left and it is YOUR job to raise your kids to mirror your values, not that of a school.
In closing I say to you gay people who want gay marriage. Good luck in your cause and don’t blindly be sheep for the Democrats. Don't be a tool of the left.

The Political Brief
I know several gay people and am related to a few, as well. You're absolutely right about the Left using them for their own purposes! Look how well it worked with blacks. No matter how badly they fare under Democrat rule, blacks still vote for the creeps.
Disenfranchisement is the key to their success. First they invent the problem, spread rumors, cast doubts, send in a goon squad to confuse everything and everyone, and then offer to "come to the rescue" in exchange for votes.
I'm not sure that redefining "marriage" is the answer, but Democrats holding anyone down for votes is surely NOT the answer.

Hear, hear!
We're still a long way off marriage equality in Australia, sadly. Both our left-wing and right-wing parties seem to be too afraid of losing the votes of the uneducated, homophobic majority to actually do anything about making a bold and progressive change.
Our politicians keep a close eye on what's happening elsewhere though, especially in the US, so it's encouraging to read about someone over there who classes himself a conservative, yet is supportive of gay marriage. It will happen one day, it's just a matter of when.
