Twitter getting news out about Iran

June 16th 2009 01:19
Twitter may be playing a part in the Iranian unrest after probable fraud filled elections. Last night I kept noticing posts from people claiming to be Iranian students in the middle of the rioting or hiding from troops.

FoxNews even commented on the fact that the Iranian Government had shut down most of the internet to the country as well as cell phones. Well some enterprising Twitter users in America are setting up proxy servers for use by Iranian citizens to report on what is happening in the country.

Twitter is an excellent resource to use in keeping up with news and talking politics or whatever you like to discuss. You can follow me on Twitter here. If you want some tips on advertising your blog or business on Twitter read this article.

I also use Twitter to follow Amber and Weather alerts, it is a very useful website. I ignore Myspace and seldom use Facebook anymore now that I have discovered Twitter.

According to the latest news, Iran's government had banned several sites, including the Facebook and Twitter. It's impossible for the Iranians to lay out their opinions through it!
