My Political Views
October 28th 2008 08:34
I used to be a moderate conservative and sometimes still am. But the 2008 election has pushed me farther to the right. I get sick of insulting comments with no intention to debate the issues.
My opinions on most subjects can be swayed with intelligent debate at least some of the time. I will react in kind to debate OR insults.
A little about my political views.
Pro gun but I don’t mind registration or even mandatory gun safety classes before being able to buy a gun.
Anti Abortion but I think each state should allow their voters to decide the issue for them. I have no problem with abortion in case of rape, or when the mom’s life is in danger. I also don’t have issue with abortion in the case of severe birth defects that wouldn’t allow the child a high quality of life. I DO have a problem with abortion being used for birth control.
The Economy
I think people should be able to keep the money they make, not have it seized in communist wealth redistribution policies. I think U.S. companies who outsource jobs should pay tax penalties not get tax breaks. Companies that provide jobs here for American Citizens should get tax breaks.
Education
I think we need to greatly improve the pay of teachers, thus inviting smarter and better people to the field. I think we need more classes in high school that prepare students for real life. Classes on money management should be mandatory. Job training classes should be mandatory. College should be made more affordable for anyone with the grades and desire to attend.
Immigration
I think we should make every effort to seal our borders. We need to try to track down the illegals in this country and register them. If they are working and trying to improve their life, they should be allowed citizenship after 5 years or so. If they are not working or are criminals they should be deported, then imprisoned if they return.

So what happened?
I know; because you have told me that SLB had been trying to have you leave politicalcertainty. She was apparently successful in having you, like Lester and she, avoid trying to do other than preach to the choir.
I am disappointed that you are so unsure of your positions that you are hesitant to discuss issues without rancor and with persons who read and study.

I do not know if I will work this blog hard because my job gets crazy busy around Christmas.
I am thankful that you invited me to your site and that you didn't try to censor me. But when you joined the "In" crowd with the insults I did not react well to it.
I was told that more conservatives would read my stuff on a non liberal blog. But I don't really care as blogs are mostly a writing excercise to me. Or were until I got caught up in this election.
Good luck to you and your site.
