Obama thinks he's Running for President of the WORLD
July 25th 2008 14:32
I'm still scratching my head trying to figure out why Obama is campaigning around the world.
He's going around giving the huge inspirational-type flowery speeches that he has already become famous for over here. He's quoted as saying things like, "People of Berlin, people of the world, this is our moment, this is our time" and "I speak to you not as a candidate for president, but as a citizen- a proud citizen of the United States and a fellow citizen of the world." As if we didn't already know that he was trying to be the new JFK.
Its one thing if he becomes president, but its entirely another to try to win the rest of the world over before he's in office. Does he think that how the rest of the world views him is going to matter to us over here when it comes to voting?
As someone who thinks we are WAY too involved in the rest of the world's business, it doesn't impress me at all.
Where is the one place he actually should have gone? Perhaps to campaign with his fellow US citizens, but that's the one place that he chose not to. Why? He said he didn't think it was "appropriate." If he intends to be their commander in chief, it would have been nice to visit them while he was in the neighborhood. Instead, he spends his time showering the rest of the world with golden words. Its all fools gold to me.

At first I was impressed with Obama's charisma but once he'd won and sat down for a lucid conversation with the press I was immediately disenchanted.
I thought to myself is this the best the Great US can come up with mind you I think much the same of McCain, but I do think he has the dignity to not campaign as if he has already won and is the acting President as Obama does. I do not think Obama has the necessary qualities to lead a country. The American people must face quite a quandary, but safety of the people is still a top priority but sooner or later the US will have to realize it does not have the resources to help re-build countries it tore down in war. Imagine if the situation were reversed, where would that leave the American people.
Their enemies must mock them, if I were they I think I'd start to get real, not play the Pollyanna with her rosy outlook on life.
War was and is serious, don't detract in the face of so many gains, tell those defeated it is time they started taking responsibility for themselves, which we all need to do. Soft love, no matter how desirable it seems does not work. Tough love has to be brought back into vogue.

Safety is absolutely necessary- but what we need to do is concentrate on getting the people who actually attacked us and not those who haven't.
We've "freed" Iraq and now it is time to allow them to use that freedom to decide for themselves what they want to do with it.
