Oil Spill in Gulf of Mexico
May 2nd 2010 12:22
The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is a tragic thing to the ecosystem. I think this should spur the oil industry to improve on their equipment and procedures to prevent another major oil spill from happening.
The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is going to cost probably billions of dollars to clean up but I think we need to keep drilling our own oil. One of the few things I have agreed with the Obama Regime on is deciding to use more of our own natural resources in the United States. Just the threat of us drilling more oil will cause the price to go down from foreign oil producing countries.
But we must force the oil industry to do every thing it can to prevent more oil spills in the Gulf of Mexico. Using our own oil and natural gas is the way to go while our experts find a cleaner safer form of fuel to drive our economy. But this oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico will drive the Green Movement into a frenzy. Perhaps it should if they can force better safety procedures on the oil industry in the United States.
I do feel sorry for the residents around the Gulf of Mexico after this terrible oil spill. They are still recovering from Hurricane Katrina and now have to deal with this huge oil spill.

Guess we'll see before long, won't we?

Primitive Poly Pontifications
@S.L. I agree with you. You may be grouchy and suspicious. I fail to see a link between BO and the timing of this event. It makes no sense for either the administration or BP to advocate, even in secrecy, this oil spill. There is no political or financial gain to be had by anyone in this mess. It will likely lead to increases sea floor drilling controls and protocols but will stop well short of endangering newly authorized drilling operations. Cap & Trade will be coming regardless of this incident as it's not only meant to spur a reduction in carbon emissions, it's also meant as a cattle prod for the power generation industry and the NRC to jump start plans and production of more nuclear power plants.

On the other hand, B.O. (B.S.) isn't one to "let a crisis go to waste" and I'm wondering how he'll use this one to further his agenda.
